Roger Cicala is a Memphis physician and photographer.
He began his imaging career 15 years ago, using
computer programs to improve images obtained through
microscopes. Today he focuses on landscapes,
cityscapes, and occasional portraits. His computer
background is still in evidence, however, as his
photographs are enhanced and accentuated individually
before they are ever printed.
The end result is not quite photograph, not quite
painting. Sometimes the final image looks more
realistic than what was captured on camera. Other
times it looks more like what his imagination wanted
to see than what was really there. He considers his
greatest compliment when someone says "I've seen that
place. It doesn't look as good as your picture."
Roger's images are availabel as fine art prints
through this gallery, and as electronic images through
several stock photography agencies. While he
occasionally accepts assignments for portraiture and
location photography, his schedule usually requires
several months notice to do so.
